
A recent traffic accident in Long Beach has resulted in a fatality, as detailed by the Long Beach Police Department in a recent press release. On Wednesday night, a male pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at the intersection of 7th Street and Channel Drive.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 10:56 p.m. when a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5, traveling east on 7th Street, hit a male adult who had entered the roadway. The victim was subsequently run over by a black truck, which did not stop and fled the scene. The Hyundai driver pulled over and fully cooperated with the authorities.
The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene, and upon their arrival, pronounced the pedestrian deceased. As for the hit-and-run vehicle, details remain scant, and local law enforcement is urging witnesses to come forward with any relevant information.
"The identity of the adult male pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Office of the Medical Examiner," states the official announcement.
