
The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a flood warning for several rivers in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Missouri, including the Mississippi River near Memphis. Current conditions show mostly cloudy skies, temperatures around 70°F, and humidity at 82%, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Memphis will have gusts up to 25 mph and highs in the mid-80s today and on Sunday. Storms are expected on Sunday night, with an 80% chance of heavy rain that could bring between half an inch and three-quarters of an inch of rainfall. The National Weather Service says this may add to minor flooding, which is expected to last until April 25. The river at Memphis is at 37.4 feet, above the flood stage of 34.0 feet, and is expected to "rise to a crest of 37.4 feet just after midnight tonight."
Flooding is affecting the economy and infrastructure in the region. "The grain terminal and nearby businesses south of West Memphis are being covered by water," according to the National Weather Service Memphis. In Memphis, water is reaching a fuel facility located south of the river gauge. The river is expected to drop below flood stage by early Thursday morning.
