Fort Collins residents have an opportunity to shape the future of a well-loved local hotspot. City officials are calling on the community to weigh in on planned renovations for the Rolland Moore Community Park tennis complex and playground this month. Heading the call for input, David Hansen, Park Planning & Development Manager, reinforced the importance of public participation. "Rolland Moore Community Park has long been a vital hub for play, recreation, and connection in Fort Collins," Hansen said, as obtained by the City of Fort Collins. "The renovation of the tennis complex and playground is about more than just replacing old infrastructure – it’s an investment in the well-being of our community. I’m excited to work alongside residents to ensure these improvements reflect the needs and hopes of those who use this space most."
The funding for this refurbishment drive comes from the 2050 Sales Tax Initiative passed by voters in 2023, earmarking dollars specifically for the enhancement and accessibility of parks among other civic needs. Intended to boldly kickstart various park projects, the Rolland Moore updates are some of the first to benefit from this financial boost. Records from the 2022 Parks Infrastructure Replacement Program Plan highlighted the tennis complex and playground as key areas needing attention, setting the stage for the forthcoming rehabilitation efforts.
Encouraging residents to get directly involved in the project's planning phase, an open house is set for Thursday, April 24, from 5:30-7 p.m. at Fort Collins Senior Center located at 1200 Raintree Drive. Calling upon the community to bring forth their voices, the event offers interactive exercises and aims to tease out the public's preferences concerning the park's amenities. A report from the project's website indicates bilingual materials and Spanish interpretation will be on hand, along with activities to engage the children, according to the City of Fort Collins.
