The streetscape of East Berry Street in Fort Worth is set to transform as the City Council considers adopting a comprehensive corridor plan designed to revamp the street using Complete Streets design standards. The East Berry Corridor study, stretching from IH-35W to Lake Arlington, intends to elevate the safety and comfort of all modes of transportation, support transit services, and kickstart economic development.

According to the City of Fort Worth, the undertakings are grounded in the 2022 Bond East Berry Street Corridor Improvements Project. They could bolster Fort Worth's allure for securing grants and other funding prospects. As for the nuts and bolts, the envisaged improvements span from IH-35 to Miller Avenue, and this segment of East Berry Street – stretching between Cobb Park Drive and US-287 – is already under review for the future 2026 bond program.

Feedback was no afterthought in this process. The consultant, Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. took community engagement seriously, conducting multiple rounds of open houses and surveys to tap into the community's pulse. The fruits of this comprehensive engagement strategy are reflected in the study's outputs: an existing conditions report, needs analysis, project list, and an implementation plan, which includes recommendations for novel infrastructures such as fiber optics and cooling pavement. A draft of the plan, honored with the Texas American Planning Association Gold award for transportation plans in 2024, is available for public review.
