
Early Thursday morning, a collision involving two vehicles on State Highway 71 near Bee Cave resulted in multiple injuries and four individuals were hospitalized, as reported by CBS Austin. According to the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS), the accident, which took place around 6:19 a.m., led to three passengers being ejected from their vehicle.
The westbound lanes of SH 71 at Bee Cave Parkway were shut down following the incident, as one adult was airlifted with critical, life-threatening injuries to Dell Seton Medical Center by STAR Flight, at the same time, three additional patients were taken by ambulance to St. David's South Austin Medical Center—two with severe injuries and a third with potentially serious injuries, CBS Austin reports further detailed that two other individuals refused medical treatment at the scene, advised drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes for their commute.
ATCEMS added that in total, six people were involved in the morning collision which occurred before 7 a.m. along the 15000 block of the state highway heading westbound, KVUE mentions that the additional details regarding the crash, including the conditions of the injured parties and the causes behind the crash, were not immediately clarified by the officials at the time.
The aftermath of the crash affected morning traffic significantly, and emergency responders urged commuters to find alternative routes while the investigation and clean-up took place, the full extent of the injuries suffered by the occupants has not been released at this time, KVUE indicated another aspect of the event, stating that two of the individuals who declined medical treatment were among the six involved in the chaotic morning ordeal.
