A somber mood has blanketed a South Philadelphia neighborhood following a harrowing incident where a vehicle struck four pedestrians, including a three-year-old child, outside an Easter carnival on Saturday night. According to FOX 29, the collision occurred near 7th Street and Packer Avenue, just as individuals were leaving the festivities around 9 p.m.
Police reports confirm that a 68-year-old male driver suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel of his silver 2004 Toyota, which then, unfortunately, led him to uncontrollably veer into the group of carnival-goers. Audacy notes that this resulted in three adults receiving broken bones, while the young child sustained head bruises but was alert and speaking following the incident.
First responders transported both the injured pedestrians and the driver to a local hospital, where they were all listed in stable condition, as per NBC Philadelphia. The driver, currently hospitalized, has not been charged with any crime. Though the Philadelphia Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, no further details have been released as of the latest updates.
