Calling all New Orleans residents looking to add a splash of color to their homes—the city's Paint Reclamation Project, in partnership with The Green Project, is back for its eighth year. Starting next Tuesday, April 22, through Saturday, April 26, locals can pick up free, reusable paint at the City's Recycling Drop-Off Center, courtesy of the excess from this year's Household Hazardous Waste Materials Collection Day. More than 627 vehicles participated in the event, donating a notable amount of paint, according to an announcement from the City of New Orleans.

The initiative not only generously offers free paint to individuals and families but also serves a greater environmental purpose—diverting potentially hazardous waste from landfills. Water-based and oil-based paints will be sorted into like colors and made available to the community. There's no need to register, just visit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the aforementioned days at 2829 Elysian Fields Ave to get your hands on the goods.

There are a few guidelines participants should be aware of: paint is only available for pickup during the event times, and once it's taken from the site, it cannot be returned. Additionally, those who choose to participate must be prepared to personally assess the paint's quality and suitability for their projects. If you're in the market for new hues for your living space, this project provides a perfect opportunity to reduce waste and creatively rebrand your surroundings. For more information about the Paint Reclamation Project and how to participate, visit the official announcement from the City of New Orleans.
