In a solemn acknowledgment of sacrifice, the Garland Police Academy Class 73 performed their Officer Memorial Run yesterday morning. The cadets journeyed to the sites where the Garland community and their department had lost three officers, marking each location with tributes to remember and respect the past as they prepare to serve the future.
According to a social media post from the Garland Police Department, they visited the sites where Officer Gerald Walker ended his watch on November 15, 1989. Officer David Moore ended his watch on February 15, 1997, and Officer Ronnie Lerma, whose watch ended on September 21, 1998, had once served.
Running through the city, these cadets paid homage to lives dedicated to public service and ultimately sacrificed in its pursuit.
