The Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO) is tuning up to welcome new members, calling for metro-area students from elementary through high school to step into their 20-year tradition of musical excellence. The young musicians interested in refining their skills and performing in one of the Southeast's largest youth orchestra programs can audition starting April 21 through May 31 for the 2025–26 season, a season that rings in more than just new faces but marks significant anniversaries for both GYSO and the Georgia Symphony Orchestra.
All skill levels are encouraged to bring their instrumental prowess to the table, or rather the stage, where they can join the ranks of one of the five orchestras GYSO boasts, alongside a jazz and percussion ensemble, and various instrumental chamber groups. Strengthening their abilities under the watchful eyes of professional musicians, GYSO students are privy to an education that extends beyond the page, according to the announcement made by the City of Marietta. Serving students hailing from 17 metro counties, GYSO promises a nurturing and supportive environment, sharpening not only individual artistry but also cultivating collaborative harmony.
Celebrating 20 years, GYSO is holding auditions and offering scholarships to ensure cost isn’t a barrier for young musicians. Full and partial tuition assistance is available, with details on auditions and financial aid at GeorgiaYouthSymphony.org. This milestone also coincides with the Symphony’s 75th anniversary, marking a joint celebration with a series of upcoming collaborative events, according to a Marietta civic alert.
