The peninsula's primary free crossing will be off-limits until the work is completed, potentially affecting the daily commutes, the bridge which will also not be operational for marine traffic during the repair period, and all motorized travel will need to be diverted to the Grosse Ile Toll Bridge, as noted by the same release. For commuters needing alternative routes, eastbound drivers are instructed to go from W. Jefferson Avenue, turn right onto Bridge Road, then right onto Meridian Road and keep straight to Grosse Ile Parkway, while those heading west from Grosse Ile Parkway should make a left onto Meridian Road, then left onto Bridge Road, and finally a left onto W.
