
The Henderson Police Department conducted a traffic safety campaign from April 1 to April 19, as part of the Joining Forces Program. The program, funded by $179,000 in federal funds, targeted distracted driving, especially cell phone use, speeding, and other traffic violations to enhance road safety, according to the City of Henderson.
Over 19 days, Henderson Police Officers conducted 383 traffic stops, issuing 177 speeding citations, 43 for distracted driving, and 62 for other traffic violations. The campaign was funded by the Nevada Department of Public Safety – Office of Traffic Safety and focused on improving road safety, including pedestrian safety, seat belt use, speeding, and addressing distracted and impaired driving, as reported by the City of Henderson.
The City of Henderson recently completed the 7th Joining Forces Program, which focused on improving road safety. The city’s official news release states, "The grant provides funding for enhanced enforcement and education to reduce deaths and injuries on Nevada roadways." The Police Department will now evaluate the results and plan future actions. The city will continue monitoring local roads and promoting safe driving practices.
