Last Saturday morning, a high-speed chase through the streets of Folsom came to a conclusion with the arrest of two teenage suspects. According to a social media post by the Folsom Police Department, the pursuit began after a resident near Chan Court called 911 to report a car burglary in progress.

The responding officers rapidly located the suspect vehicle, initiating a chase when the driver decided to recklessly speed off, pushing the car over 100 MPH onto the freeway. During the pursuit, one of the suspects hurled a car rim out of the sunroof, striking and disabling a police car. "Thankfully, the officer was uninjured and was able to safely stop the car, despite being unable to see clearly," detailed the post by the Folsom Police Department.

With the assistance of the California Highway Patrol, officers were able to eventually stop the vehicle after it suffered a blown tire. Both the driver, aged 16, and the passenger, aged 15, attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended. They have been charged with reckless evading of police and assault with a deadly weapon, among other serious charges, and were booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall.

Further investigation revealed that the car involved in the chase had been stolen earlier that day. However, the owner was not aware until after the suspects had been caught. "We later learned the car the suspects were driving had been stolen earlier in the day, but the owner wasn’t aware at the time we arrested the suspects," the Folsom Police Department clarified in their update. This added more charges to the duo, as they had also stolen two other cars before the ensuing chase, abandoning each one.

The Folsom Police emphasized the importance of community vigilance, crediting the resident's immediate reaction for the successful resolution. The department reminded the public, "If you see something suspicious, say something. It truly makes all the difference."
