Houston police are delving into a tragic incident that unfolded in the early hours of April 15, when a high-speed crash claimed the life of a female driver at 700 West Loop North, known also as West Interstate Highway 610 North, at approximately 3:30 a.m., as per the City of Houston.
The female, whose identity remains to be confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was behind the wheel of a white Chevrolet Suburban and was traveling at what investigators describe as a high speed down the southbound entrance ramp leading from the West Loop North to the East/West Interstate Highway 10 when the accident occurred, she swiped a gray GMC Sierra pickup truck, lost control and met with concrete and tragedy, according to an article on the City of Houston official news site.
Post-collision, the Suburban impacted a concrete barrier on the shoulder, causing it to tip over and slide, leading to the driver being partially ejected from the vehicle; this sequence of events was laid out by Houston Police Department Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer M. Lozano in the report which also noted the driver of the GMC was not under the influence of any impairing substance, cooperated fully with the authorities, and was later released after questioning, as reported by the City of Houston.
After Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived, they confirmed that the driver of the Suburban had died from injuries caused by the crash. The investigation into what led to the accident is still ongoing, as per the City of Houston.
