A casual afternoon in Greater Ville turned abruptly into a scene of violence this past Saturday when a dispute between two individuals escalated into a shooting, leaving an uninvolved 27-year-old man with a serious gunshot wound. The incident, which occurred near the 4400 block of Lexington around 2:30 p.m., was reported to District 6 officers after a call came in from a local hospital.
The injured man, currently in surgery and described as being in critical but, stable condition was caught in the crossfire when two unidentified men embroiled in a heated argument turned to gunfire. According to a statement obtained by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the victim alongside two other men, aged 46 and 32, were inside a vehicle driving near the contentious scene. As the argument reached its tipping point, with both parties drawing and pointing their guns, the 27-year-old immediately drove away, only to realize shortly after that he had been struck.
As the investigation unfolds, few details are available regarding the suspects or the precise nature of the altercation that led to the shooting. The authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in their efforts to resolve the case.
