In an statement from Mayor Donna Deegan official Facebook page, the decision as a strategic move aimed at retaining young talent in the city and drawing more to its promising future. "This investment will grow high-value jobs, strengthen our workforce pipeline, and make us shine as a regional hub for one of the world’s fastest growing industries," reads the statement, highlighting the City's drive towards embracing the new digital frontier. Notably, one of the top priorities cited is securing the city's youth by intertwining their passions in esports with educational and professional opportunities.
With this investment, the UNF Flight Deck is expected to offer a mix of educational programs, gaming spaces, and innovation areas that align with the growing esports industry.
