Two arrests have been made in a tragic connection between the murder of 7-year-old Breon Allen and a second, earlier homicide. According to a social media update from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the investigation's persistence has led to 20-year-old Dannel Larkins facing a new murder charge for the death of 43-year-old Valondia Norris, found shot at a Charter Point apartment complex in April of last year, and he was rightfully identified by homicide detectives.
Larkins was already in custody at the Duval County jail on charges related to the death of young Breon Allen this year now this new charge adds to the gravity of his situation; in March, footage released shows the suspect being walked from jail after being charged with the child's murder. Additionally, Keith Johnson, 21, has been arrested and charged with Accessory After the Fact and Tampering with Physical Evidence in connection with the same cases furthering the intertwining of these two murders that affect the community's sense of safety and justice.
Authorities assure that they remain "relentless in seeking justice," ready to work with the State Attorney’s Office. They have a steadfast commitment to ensuring that Larkins is met with the full extent of punishment for his alleged role in both the murder of young Breon and Ms. Norris. The swift actions and the clear messages from the JSO reflect a resolve that such acts should meet their rightful end under the law.
As the story develops, more updates and court proceedings are expected to provide new details and help answer important questions in these tragic and troubling cases.
