Comstock Township was the site of a significant traffic incident yesterday, as a rollover crash involving three vehicles led to the closure of East Michigan Avenue. The mishap, which took place near 28th Street, resulted not only in the overturning of a Kalamazoo County Sheriff's deputy's cruiser but also caused considerable traffic disruptions throughout the area, as reported by WOODTV. The accident occurred around midday, and by 5 p.m., the thoroughfare was open again to the public.
Initial details about the crash were scarce with no immediate information on the cause. What is known, according to WWMT, is that the accident unfolded as two vehicles were attempting to make a left turn on East Michigan. It was then that another vehicle, attempting to inadvisably pass them in the left lane, collided with an oncoming deputy's vehicle that swerved to avoid a head-on collision. This maneuver resulted in the deputy's cruiser flipping over.
Fortunately, there were no life-threatening injuries reported from the incident. "Both the driver of the vehicle and deputy were transported to a local hospital and appear to be okay," Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller confirmed, per WWMT.
