Newly appointed Public Health Dietitian Katie Meaux has brought her expertise and enthusiasm to the Bloomington Women, Infants and Children (WIC) team since October 2024, a move that not only heralds professional growth but also personal joy in the varied climate and community Minnesota offers, according to a Bloomington city news release.
Having honed her skills in nutrition counseling and education within the St. Paul school district, a position that spanned a solid five-year period, Meaux now finds herself in Bloomington, which she signifies as a continuation of her journey to impact lives, particularly those of women and children needing nutritional guidance; previously, she earned her stripes academically with a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Louisiana and a master’s degree in nutrition, coupled with a dietetic internship from North Carolina.
Katie Meaux, alongside her husband Evan and their cat Bunsen, has seamlessly woven herself into the fabric of her newfound community, embracing local sports and outdoor activities ranging from playing tennis and paddle boarding during the sunnier seasons to engaging in the more adrenaline-inducing ice climbing and broomball in the colder months, "I am honored to be part of a program that has made such a positive impact on the well-being of so many women and children, and I am excited to grow in this role," Meaux told the city's news publication.
The Public Health Dietitian also comes with a message for the public—understanding that access to nutritious foods is a cornerstone of health, she emphasizes the importance of moderation and balance in diet, elements that might well differ from person to person; families interested in the WIC program can easily check their eligibility.
