Parents and their little ones have a new destination for play and learning this May. The Pierce County Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC) is opening the gates to a fun garden with a free event tailored for youngsters up to five years old. On May 10, from 10 AM to 1 PM, the Lakewood Community Center will be the place for "spring into fun", a garden-themed event that promises a blend of sensory play, crafts, and games aligned with early learning and development.

The affair, in step with the council's commitment to inclusive fun, offers various activities adaptable to children with varying needs and abilities. The day is packed with engagements encouraging physical and cognitive growth, from gross and fine motor exercises to story time sessions. According to Pierce County's announcement, no pre-registration is required, making it easy for families to participate in the revelry. On offer are local organizations providing essential resources and services for children, and the Early Support for Infants and Toddlers programs are already known to the community.

Breaking down language barriers, the event will also feature Spanish and ASL interpreters to ensure that no family is left on the fringes. "We’re excited to offer a fun, inclusive event where families can play, learn, and connect with one another," Brayde Willson, Pierce County Early Support Services Supervisor, conveyed in a statement per Pierce County's website. "Every child deserves the chance to thrive, and this event is a great way to celebrate early development while connecting families to the many local resources available to support them."
