Rafael Chica Garcia, a 19-year-old, was detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Laredo's Port of Entry when he arrived from Mexico last Saturday. He was taken into custody on serious allegations, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Garcia, traveling by commercial bus, was selected for a secondary inspection. During the inspection, biometric checks revealed an outstanding felony warrant for alleged molestation of a minor from St. Charles County, Missouri. After confirming his identity and the warrant, Garcia was taken into custody by the Webb County Sheriff's Office and is awaiting legal proceedings, as reported by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

"The arrest of this individual represents a critical step in protecting our communities and ensuring that those who seek to harm minors are held accountable," said Port Director Alberto Flores of the Laredo Port of Entry. The National Crime Information Center database played a key role in tracking offenses, including sexual child abuse, and has assisted in previous U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehensions. Garcia is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The cooperation between border officers and law enforcement agencies contributed to the arrest.
