In line with the community's values of cooperation, Las Cruces firefighters provided a crucial assist in combating a hazardous blaze in Dona Ana County. A mobile home on Glass Road met its demise on Sunday when strong winds fanned the flames, necessitating a response that exceeded local capabilities. As reported on the City of Las Cruces' official website, firefighters arrived on the scene at the 2800 block around 3:45 p.m. to a fire that posed significant threats, including a large propane tank, live power lines, and the potential for the fire to spread to adjacent homes.
A fire, pushed by strong winds, spread more than 300 yards from where it started. Las Cruces firefighters quickly responded, knowing extra help was needed. Working together, they brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes and stayed for hours to extinguish the remaining hot spots. Thankfully, no one was hurt, as announced.
The Dona Ana County Fire Marshal has initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
