In the waning light of Monday's afternoon, a person found themselves in desperate need of rescue off the beaten path of First Creek trail in Red Rock, but thanks to the swift response of SAR personnel, that individual is now in recovery. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Search and Rescue team detailed the rescue operation in a social media post, stating that the mission was conducted from AIR1, their aerial unit, to retrieve the injured party who had been tended to by both patrol officers and fire department staff prior to the SAR officers' arrival.
According to the information released, the initial teams hiked to the person's location to provide immediate aid for the injuries sustained, an endeavor that demonstrates the vital collaboration between ground forces and aerial support in times of crisis, despite the SAR officers and a Mountain Rescue volunteer safely inserted to the site after these preliminary measures, they needed the full breadth of their expertise for a successful extraction.
The technicalities of the rescue involved utilizing a litter with a tagline—a method often employed for stabilizing and removing patients from dangerous or inaccessible terrain. The injured hiker, whose identity has yet to be disclosed, was then transferred to Mercy Air and taken to a local hospital where they are currently receiving medical attention for their injuries.
