Leander Police Department has announced that the earlier report of a juvenile girl being enticed into a vehicle on Artesian Springs Crossing in the Crystal Springs neighborhood is now deemed "unfounded." Initial reports had detailed an unidentified man yelling at the girl to get inside his vehicle, with the girl subsequently running away — a scenario that prompted concerns over child safety in the community.
However, following a thorough investigation, which included speaking with involved parties and canvassing the neighborhood, authorities have concluded that the alleged incident did not happen. "Through this investigation it was determined that the alleged incident was unfounded," CBS Austin reported, based on a statement by the Leander Police Department. The relief, palpable among residents, comes with the acknowledgment that no threat persists in relation to this particular event.
While this instance has been resolved, Leander police continue their search for a suspect related to an earlier, separate incident on April 2, which occurred at an apartment complex on Lakeline Boulevard. Authorities encourage anyone with relevant information or footage to contact Sgt. George at the provided email, as suggested by KXAN.
Meanwhile, nearby localities are grappling with their own child abduction scare. Round Rock and Hutto police are actively investigating reports from last Friday. In Round Rock, it was reported that a man attempted to lure children into a van, while in Hutto, a child was reportedly approached by two men in a van, with one attempting to grab through the open side door. These recent investigations underscore the heightened vigilance surrounding child safety in Central Texas, as families and law enforcement remain on high alert.
