A tragic collision in St. Clair County has claimed the life of a local man on Wednesday afternoon. According to WWJ Newsradio, the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Shea and Starville roads in Cottrellville Township.

Joseph Richard Quesnell, a 52-year-old resident of Clay Township, was driving his 2024 Ford Ranger when he was fatally struck at around 4 p.m. by a 2019 Ram pickup. Driving westbound, the Ram pickup, driven by a 25-year-old Clay Township man, collided with Quesnell's vehicle following a stop he made at the intersection, said the sheriff's officials.

The sheriff's office, as noted by ClickOnDetroit, indicated that alcohol, drugs, and excessive speed do not appear to be factors in the incident at this stage of the investigation. Deputies responded to the scene after reports indicated a vehicle had rolled over, leaving someone trapped inside.

Additional details provided by CBS News Detroit state that the crash resulted in a rollover, and Quesnell was pronounced dead at the site of the accident. Clay Township Police Department, Ira Township Fire Department, and Tri-Hospital EMS also responded alongside the St. Clair County Crash Investigation Team, working on the ongoing investigation.

The driver of the Ram is said to be cooperating fully with the investigation into the fatal crash.
