The Metropolitan Police Department recently took into custody a man connected to a series of stabbings in the Sixth District. James Gregory, 36, with no fixed address, has been named as the suspect in three separate incidents, all of which occurred within a close proximity in Southeast Washington, DC, as per an official release.

Authorities report that the first attack happened in the morning hours of February 21, when a person waiting at a bus stop was assaulted by Gregory with a machete at 18th Street and Minnesota Avenue. After the assault, the suspect immediately fled while the victim received medical attention at a local hospital for non-lethal injuries, the MPD states. The second and third stabbings followed a similar pattern, with one occurring on March 23 and the other on March 26 the suspect approached and stabbed the victims multiple times, again at locations on Minnesota Avenue.

After linking the events, law enforcement located Gregory in Prince George's County, where he was taken into custody. Following extradition proceedings, he was transported to Washington, D.C., and formally charged on Wednesday. According to court documents, Gregory now faces three counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, with the charges specifically stating that a knife was used in the alleged attacks.
