Washington, DC will provide $3.5 million in funding for large-scale events through the Large Event Grant Program. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Events DC announced that the funds will support 11 events expected to attract more than 10,000 attendees each. The program is part of the city's efforts to increase tourism and support cultural and economic activities, as reported by the Office of the Mayor.

The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development has received funding through a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration Travel, Tourism, and Outdoor Recreation program. According to the Office of the Mayor, the funding will support efforts to boost tourism, create local jobs, and showcase talent across the District.

Mayor Bowser spoke about the Large Event Grant Program and its connection to DC’s festivals and events. "Visitors from around the world come to DC to experience our world-class festivals and events," she said. "These grants help bring that experience to life, with the music, the food, and the spirit of our neighborhoods." The program is managed by Events DC, the city’s official convention and sports authority. It supports events that represent the city’s diverse communities and draw both residents and visitors, as stated by the Office of the Mayor.
