McKinney man, Nasib Ahsan, 35, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his pregnant wife, Nawreen Tuli, on December 25, 2023. According to a release from the Collin County District Attorney's Office, the sentence was handed down without a trial through a plea agreement.

On the Christmas Day in question, Ahsan's family reached out to 911 after he confessed to them that, he and Tuli had been in an altercation that ended in her death. Upon arriving at the couple's apartment, McKinney Police were met with the grim scene of Tuli's body, which showed signs of manual strangulation. Notably, her pregnancy was several months along at the time of her untimely death.

The violent incident wasn't an isolated event—records reveal that Ahsan had been arrested scarcely two months prior for assaulting Tuli, who was pregnant then as well. Despite her reluctance to have him apprehended, police intervened after neighbors reported her cries for help.

DA Greg Willis, in a statement obtained by Collin County District Attorney's Office, expounded on the severity of the crime, "This was a vicious, premeditated act of domestic violence that stole the life of a young woman, and her unborn child. My team fought to hold him fully accountable and ensure he can never harm another woman."

The investigation, spearheaded by Detective Michelle Read and Officer Stephen Ryken of the McKinney Police Department, culminated in the life sentence issued by Judge Jennifer Edgeworth. Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Dewey Mitchell and Brooke Adams prosecuted the case, with support from District Attorney Investigator Stephanie Strickland.
