Residents in the Memphis area are advised to stay vigilant as the National Weather Service (NWS) extends multiple flood warnings and issues a frost advisory. Areas along the Mississippi River at Memphis and the Wolf River at Germantown and near Rossville are experiencing flooding due to recent excessive rainfall. According to the National Weather Service Memphis TN, the Flood Advisory for the Mississippi River will persist until April 27, with the river expected to crest at 37.5 feet by April 14 before receding below flood stage by April 23.

Meanwhile, the Frost Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. CDT this morning for portions of East Arkansas, Southeast Missouri, and West Tennessee. With temperatures as low as 29 degrees, residents are warned that "Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation," and steps should be taken to "protect tender plants from the cold." The NWS Memphis forecasts a clear trend with a high nearing 69 by Wednesday, and temperatures continuing to rise towards the end of the week, providing some respite from the current cold conditions.

In Germantown, minor flooding is occurring and is expected to continue until Friday afternoon on the Wolf River, with fields in Shelby Farms flooded nearly to Farm Road. "At 24.0 feet, Fields in Shelby Farms are flooded nearly to Farm Road," the NWS statement detailed the impacts. Residents near the Wolf River north of Piperton and north of Collierville are also warned of flooding as small creeks begin to backup.

The situation near Rossville is expected to improve soon, with the Wolf River predicted to crest at 13.5 feet by tomorrow evening and fall below flood stage early Wednesday afternoon. Despite the forecasted improvements, the NWS Memphis advises caution. "Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads," the warning reads, reflecting the ongoing risk posed by water-covered roadways. The agency further cautions that most flood deaths occur in vehicles, signaling the importance of heeding such warnings.
