A Mesa man found himself behind bars after attempting to rob a credit union on April 18, 2025. Terrell Maurice Mars, 47, was charged following an arrest by Mesa Police Department officers, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office. The complaint states Mars entered the bank wielding a hot glue gun, mistaken for a handgun, and demanded money from the employees.
After fleeing on an electric scooter with an undisclosed sum, Mars was found by law enforcement hiding beneath a vehicle in an apartment parking lot and was apprehended without further incident. At the scene, officers recovered the same amount of money stolen from the bank, and they retrieved what was assumed to be a weapon used in the robbery—a hot glue gun.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation led the investigation with support from the local Mesa Police. On the case is Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacqueline Schesnol, from the District of Arizona, Phoenix, who is spearheading the prosecution efforts for this crime that rattled a local financial institution.
