The Michigan Gaming Control Board has taken affirmative action against thirteen offshore gambling websites accused of illegally targeting state residents. According to information released by the board, noted websites, including Captain Jack Casino and Casino Brango, have been slapped with cease-and-desist orders. These platforms are accused of operating without authorization under Michigan law, posing personal and financial dangers to Michiganians.
"These illegal gambling websites put Michigan residents at significant personal and financial risk," Henry Williams, the MGCB's Executive Director, articulated. In a quote detailed by the Michigan Gaming Control Board, Williams elaborated on these sites' perils, including withholding winnings and imposing unfair wagering requirements, making it harder to access funds, and rendering users susceptible to exploitation.
The cited websites offered gambling services using various payment methods, such as credit cards and cryptocurrencies, but failed to adhere to the state's standards for responsible gaming and consumer protection. This leaves consumers open to potential fraud and identity theft.
Operators have been sternly instructed to fully cease all unlawful activities within a fortnight of receiving the cease-and-desist notices. Failure to comply will prompt further legal action, as the MGCB, partnered with Michigan's Attorney General, has pledged to swiftly and severely pursue these entities.
