Milton's Board of Zoning Appeals, or BZA, is set to deliberate on a request for multiple variances on a Crabapple area property during their meeting today, as detailed on the City of Milton's official website. Scheduled for tonight at 6 p.m., interested individuals can choose to show up in person at the City Hall’s Council Chambers or alternatively, watch the proceedings via a live stream provided through the link on the website.
The solitary agenda item after the approval of the previous meeting's minutes involves the property at 315 North Court in the Arbor North subdivision, seeking a number of deviations from existing zoning protocols—these variances range from significantly reducing side and rear yard requirements for various structures, including a garage, shop, and outdoor entertainment accessories.
The BZA functions as a quasi-judicial committee in the City of Milton, with the responsibility of adjudicating requests for exceptions to the Unified Development Code and hearing appeals pertinent to city decisions that concern zoning standards, the likes of stream and sign buffers; these rulings, shaped by City Code, may be challenged in the Fulton County Superior Court, should stakeholders elect to contest the decisions rendered by the seven-member board.
According to the meeting's documentation, the request consists of reducing side yard spacing to less than the standard seven feet for both a garage expansion and an existing accessory structure while also seeking to trim rear yard requirements for an existing outdoor kitchen, and patio down to fractions of the mandated fifty feet, though no further items are slated for discussion at the upcoming session, after this round the BZA will reconvene on May 20.
