A multi-vehicle accident in Jefferson County yesterday afternoon resulted in the death of a motorcyclist and injuries to four others. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, which occurred on U.S. Highway 25/70 near the intersection of Betty Lou Drive, according to WVLT. The crash, involving three vehicles including a motorcycle, took place just after 3:00 p.m.

The victim, identified as 35-year-old Jeremy Arangio, was riding a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Arangio was attempting to pass another car on a highway when his motorcycle collided head-on with an oncoming car. This impact consequently caused the car behind the motorcycle to crash as well. "THP reports Arangio was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash," stated by WVLT.

Adding to the complexity of the accident, a preliminary report suggests that charges are pending against another driver involved in the crash. Arangio had been trying to pass a 2023 Subaru Ascent when he collided with a 1998 Toyota Sienna traveling in the opposite direction. The Ascent then struck the motorcycle post-collision. The driver of the Ascent, the Sienna, and its two passengers were all injured, and they were reportedly wearing seat belts. "The report lists charges as pending against the driver of the Sienna," as noted by WATE. The names and conditions of the injured parties have not been released thus far.

The investigation into the crash by the Tennessee Highway Patrol is ongoing as they work to understand the full scope of this incident.
