In a collision that interrupted the usual hum of Mission Beach traffic, a 35-year-old man on an electric motorcycle found himself the victim of a serious accident. The San Diego Police Department reported that the rider crashed into the rear of a Chevy Bolt SUV on 3700 Mission Boulevard, suffering an open pelvic fracture.
The incident, which occurred yesterday at approximately 2:29 p.m., called for an immediate response as the motorcyclist was urgently transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Although severe, the injury sustained by the motorcycle rider is not considered life-threatening, according to the San Diego Police Department's Watch Commander, Officer J. Perales, in a statement released by the department.
Alcohol, often a concern in vehicle collisions, was not a factor in this particular case, which involved two men traveling in the same direction on one of the city's bustling thoroughfares. The driver of the SUV, a 42-year-old male, has not been identified as sustaining any injuries from the rear-end collision. The Traffic Division of the SDPD is now taking the lead on the investigation into the crash.
As the investigation unfolds, the San Diego Police Department encourages anyone with relevant information to come forward and contribute to clarifying the specifics of the accident. Witnesses or those privy to pertinent details can contact the Traffic Division or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
