Quick action by Metropolitan Police Department officers may have saved a life following a recent Southeast shooting, as the department has just apprehended a suspect connected to the violent incident. The MPD report indicates that the event unfolded late on the evening of April 14, when Seventh District officers rushed to a call on the 2600 block of Stanton Road, Southeast, finding an adult male shot, unconscious, yet breathing; they immediately employed Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) kits to stabilize him before a swift transport to the hospital ensued.
Despite the harrowing scene and critical wounds the victim was transported for emergency treatment and survived, thanks to the fast response by officers and medical staff, Darius McIntrye, a 41-year-old resident from the same southeast neighborhood was identified and subsequently taken into custody on April 26th following an investigation by detectives, the suspect is now facing serious charges of Assault with Intent to Kill (Gun).
The neighborhood, often caught in the crossfires of violence, witnessed a moment of solidarity as uniformed heroes stepped beyond their call, laying bare a hope that perhaps the same streets painted with the stillness of tragedy could pulse again with the vivid beats of community and care. The victim, his identity not yet disclosed, remains in a local hospital, fighting for life but anchored in the reality of a city's struggle against the tide of gun violence.
