A subway conductor was the victim of an assault and robbery while operating a train in Brooklyn, authorities say. The incident, unfolding in Park Slope near the Fourth Avenue and Ninth Street station, occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. on a northbound F train. According to reports from ABC7NY, two culprits are said to have forced their way into the conductor's booth before assaulting the 51-year-old woman and taking a set of keys from her possession.
The MTA employee chose not to receive medical treatment after the attack. While one individual, identified as 18-year-old Farhan Chowdury, has been apprehended, the search continues for the second suspect involved in the altercation. Chowdury is facing various charges, including robbery, assault, and trespassing, according to Brooklyn News12.
The New York City Police Department is actively pursuing leads in this case and urges the public to come forward with any information that might assist in apprehending and prosecuting the remaining suspect. As the investigation continues, details about the motivation behind the attack or the full extent of the conductor's experience have yet to be disclosed. In the meantime, the MTA, police officials, and transport worker unions are likely to revisit discussions about worker safety in response to growing concerns about transit crime.
