It appears that some Uber passengers have a knack for leaving behind possessions that range from the mundane to the downright bizarre, with New York City topping the charts as the most forgetful spot, according to the 2025 Uber Lost & Found Index released today. Besides the expected phones, keys, and wallets, the rideshare behemoth's list features items that push the boundaries of what one might consider accidentally forgettable; these include a Viking drinking horn, Shrek ears, and even a live pet turtle, as reported by NBC New York.

The variety of lost items shows just how unique Uber passengers can be, especially in New York City. Among the oddities were 175 cheeseburger sliders, likely left after a party, along with a chainsaw and a Ghostbusters ghost trap, possibly forgotten in a hurry. "From wayward mannequin heads to live lobsters, Uber riders have left behind some truly unforgettable items this year," Camiel Irving, Vice President of Operations at Uber, told UPI.

In a blend of customer service and entertainment, Uber is hosting a lost-and-found pop-up in Manhattan's Flatiron district, giving passengers the chance to browse through a collection of recovered items. The event aims not only to return lost possessions to their owners but also to educate attendees on the retrieval process, with some freebies included for good measure.

"Whether essential or totally unusual, we understand how important it is to be reunited with your lost belongings," Irving explained in a statement obtained by UPI.
