
Newton County's 4-H students were recognized by the Board of Commissioners at a meeting on Tuesday for their achievements at the Project Achievement district competition. The event, held at the Newton County Steam Academy on February 4, saw 32 students from grades four to six compete against 284 participants from 14 counties. Newton County had 59% of its participants finish in the top three in their categories, as per the Newton County release.
Additionally, 16 middle and high school students earned top spots at a recent competition. These students submitted portfolios and gave demonstrations in various areas, including dance and cooking.
Fourteen middle and high school students placed in the top three. The recognition at the Board of Commissioners meeting emphasized the value of investing in educational and extracurricular programs.
