A fire tore through a senior living community in Murrysville this morning, resulting in significant damage to two mobile homes in the 500 block of Heritage Lane. According to WPXI, first responders to the scene observed heavy smoke billowing from the residences around 7:15 a.m., although flames had already subsided. Fortunately, emergency dispatchers reported that there were no injuries.
Eye-witness Mary Ronco lives in the vicinity. She recounted to WTAE that sounds resembling "gunshots or fireworks" came from a garage before the fire broke out. "The first one caught fire going down the hill in the carport and then the flames went over to the second house to the porch. They're both totally gone," Ronco detailed about the rapid spread of the fire. At this stage, the cause of the fire remains unknown, and fire officials have not disclosed details about the occupants' conditions.
Both damaged homes are part of a community reserved for individuals aged 55 and above. TribLIVE reported that one resident from each of the mobile homes managed to escape unharmed. Volunteer firefighters from several departments responded to the emergency call and worked to extinguish the blaze.
