This weekend, the City of Lewisville Animal Services is teaming up with the Humane Society of North Texas, NBC5/Telemundo 39, and a total of 19 other North Texas animal shelters for a massive adoption effort aimed at finding homes for more than 1,000 pets. According to the City of Lewisville, the Petco Love MEGA Adoption event is set to take place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, located at 650 S. Griffin Street, in Dallas.
The pet adoption extravaganza is scheduled for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, offering plenty of time for potential adopters to meet and greet with a prospective new companion. To make the adoption process as easy as possible, the organizers have set a low adoption fee of $25 or less, which includes spay/neutering, microchipping, and age-appropriate vaccinations—an offer that's hard to pass up for those looking to expand their family.
Typically, the barriers to pet adoption can be the cost and the process involved. Events like these aim to alleviate some of those hurdles. Beyond just the financial accessibility, this collaborative event provides a boon to the shelters involved, freeing up much needed space and resources, as they continually work to accommodate new animals in need. It's a win-win situation for all parties: animals find their forever homes, and shelters gain the capacity to assist more animals.
