The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) has issued a public health notification about a potential measles exposure in Oklahoma City. According to KFOR, a confirmed measles case has been connected to the Aldi Grocery Store located at 6965 NW Expressway. The health department reported that visitors to the store last Sunday between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. might have been exposed.
In its efforts to mitigate the spread of measles, the OSDH is urging those individuals who are unvaccinated or uncertain about their immunization or immune status to submit their contact information via a specified form. A department staff member, as released by the health department, will follow up with these individuals between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., seven days a week, to provide further guidance. While visiting the grocery store, the individuals in the city may have been exposed, considering a confirmed case has been reported earlier at Oklahoma Children's Hospital OU Health, according to the details shared by News 9.
This marks the second reported case of measles in the city, heightening concerns over public safety and health. As OKC Fox reports, OSDH learned of the potential case last Sunday and initiated an immediate investigation, which led to the identification of the Aldi store as a site of concern.
OSDH emphasizes the importance of vaccination as a key preventive measure against measles, a highly contagious virus. The Aldi store on NW Expressway, as a potential exposure location, was identified, aligning with the health authorities' efforts to contain any possible outbreak, as stated by the health department.
