The Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation is gearing up for a festive Easter season, jam-packed with free events for the community. An array of activities has been lined up, from traditional Easter egg hunts to crafts and special events catering to seniors and individuals with special needs. Whether you're looking to meet the Easter Bunny, enjoy a game of bingo, or partake in a scavenger hunt, there's something for everyone in OKC this April.
For families looking to kick off celebrations a tad early, "Easter on the Green" is set for 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 12 at Will Rogers Gardens, located at 3400 NW 36th St. Attendees can visit the Easter Bunny and get creative with craft-making at the Ed Lycan Conservatory. The egg hunts, divided by age groups so everyone gets a fair shake, are scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., as reported by OKC.gov. A registration fee of $5 is required to join the hunt.
Senior citizens haven't been forgotten, with two events crafted specifically for them. The "Senior Easter Eggstravaganza" takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 14 at the Will Rogers Seniors Center at 3501 Pat Murphy Dr, offering a complimentary session of bingo and lunch, but remember, registration is a must. Meanwhile, another opportunity for seniors to scoop up some eggs is slated for 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 18 at the Pete White Health and Wellness Center, 4021 S. Walker Ave.
For a broader audience, the "Easter Eggstravaganza" will sprawl across six community centers on Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to noon, promising free egg hunts and fun-filled activities. Locations where you can hop straight into action include Melrose, Macklanburg, Minnis Lakeview, Pitts, and Southern Oaks Community Centers, as well as the Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center. The event is drop-in friendly, requiring no need for registration. Simultaneously, Sellers Park at 8301 S. Villa Ave. will host the "Adaptive Easter Eggstravaganza" for individuals with special needs and their families, beginning from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. This particular event, also free, requires pre-registration to ensure a tailored experience.
Aside from the egg-centric excitement, the "Whose Egg Is That?" Scavenger Hunt offers an educational twist. This outdoor quest is set to engage kids aged 4-12 in wildlife discovery at the Martin Park Nature Center, located at 5000 W. Memorial Rd. Explorers will learn about the region's native birds on April 19 from 10 a.m. to noon. As per the details shared on OKC.gov.
