Construction is underway on a new 4-acre community park at the former Dewey Elementary School site, located at 3500 N. Lindsay Ave. in Ward 7. The City of Oklahoma City acquired the vacant property in December 2024 to create open space and recreational areas for the Capitol View neighborhood. This project is part of the $3 million effort to revitalize the area through the city's Strong Neighborhoods Initiative.

Dewey Park, set to open this summer, will feature a variety of amenities for residents of all ages. The park will include flower-themed playsets, walking paths, art installations, shaded areas, exercise stations, picnic setups, sports facilities, and a memorial wall honoring local figures. It will also have small planting beds for local plants that attract pollinators. The park’s design, led by City of Oklahoma Parks Landscape Architect Subhashini Gamagedara, was shaped by input from local residents. According to Capitol View Neighborhood Association President Priscilla Meadows-Norwood, "The park will serve as a catalyst for revitalization and social interaction, fostering greater unity within the community through exercise, relaxation, stress reduction, and enhanced mental well-being for all," as reported by the City of Oklahoma City.

“Our SNI team has thoroughly enjoyed working with the neighborhood and can’t wait for the grand opening this summer,” said Urban Revitalization Program Planner Shannon Entz. Dewey Park, located in Oklahoma City's Capitol View neighborhood, is under construction with a budget of $2.5 million. The Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation Department will maintain the park once it opens. Downey Construction is the general contractor for the project, as stated by the City of Oklahoma City.
