St. Johns County is expected to see an increase in drivers regaining their licenses following the conclusion of Operation Green Light, a statewide initiative designed to help individuals with suspended licenses due to unpaid court costs. The program ran from March 29 through last Saturday and was facilitated locally by the St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s Office, which announced the results this week.
According to the announcement, 189 cases were fully paid during the event. Additionally, 16 drivers became eligible to have their licenses reinstated, and 309 new payment plans were established to help transition cases out of collections. The effort included a temporary waiver of collection fees on overdue court fines and traffic tickets.
The event brought in more than $84,000 in payments toward outstanding court obligations. These funds are allocated to settling unpaid court fees, and the program allowed residents an opportunity to address their legal and financial responsibilities.
Brandon J. Patty, Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller, expressed appreciation for the strong participation and positive results of the event. Operation Green Light allows clerks’ offices throughout Florida to waive collection surcharges on overdue court fines and traffic tickets, as authorized by Florida Statutes § 322.75.
