A deep sense of tragedy grips the community of Palm Harbor after a missing 3-year-old boy, Kyrie Larry, who was autistic and non-verbal, was found deceased. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reported the discovery following an intense search that drew on multiple resources, including the Sheriff's Flight Unit, K9 Unit, bloodhounds, and Marine Unit. The heart-wrenching news was confirmed yesterday following the boy's disappearance from his family home at 3843 Lancaster Court.
Kyrie's parents, Marcus Larry and Jasmine Torrence, who are both hearing impaired, were unaware their son had left their home. They mistakenly believed he was in the company of an older sibling. In a sobering revelation, a neighbor's Ring doorbell captured footage of Kyrie near a pond—a significant distance from his home—which led deputies to the area during their search. An article obtained by Pinellas Sheriff's Office detailed the subsequent discovery by the PCSO Dive Team, who located the child in the pond, not far from the place he was last seen.
The press conference led by Chief Deputy Danzig gave voice to the collective sorrow, with Danzig expressing, "Anytime a child loses their life under circumstances like this, it’s a terrible night for everybody out here and I wish it was a better outcome". His statement resonates with the heavy toll such events take on families and the first responders who face these tragedies in their line of duty, as reported by the Pinellas Sheriff's Office.
More information regarding the case will be released as it becomes available.
