
Community support takes a practical turn this week as deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office prepare to distribute Easter meals to families in need. As obtained by the Pinellas Sheriff's official release, officers involved with the Community Policing Unit are readying to pack up and deliver holiday meals to 50 families that they have come to recognize through their engagement with localities such as Ridgecrest, Highpoint, Lealman, and St. Petersburg.
These Easter meals are more than simple sustenance. They are a collection of traditional holiday foods meant to provide comfort—a cooked ham, various vegetables including green beans and corn, sides like macaroni and cheese, and even jellybeans for a sweet treat. Deputies are slated to gather tomorrow, April 15, behind the Publix on Indian Rocks Road to commence the distribution. As per the announcement from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, this year will mark the two-decade milestone of this community tradition.
Efforts to assist those facing food insecurity in the area however are not limited to holiday occurrences. Calvary Episcopal Church, operating the Beach Community Food Pantry, offers support three times a week and continuously accepts donations, whether they be monetary or non-perishable food items.
