Pittsburgh is calling all willing extras to play a role in the cinematic telling of the life and love of chocolate pioneer Milton Hershey. Nancy Mosser Casting, in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Film Office, has issued an open invitation to background actors of all ages for an upcoming major motion picture titled "Hershey." The casting call is seeking individuals ready to step back into the late 1800s and early 1900s, with filming slated to begin next month in Pittsburgh and extend to the town of Hershey itself, according to a report by PennLive.
The film, directed by Mark Waters — known for hits like "Mean Girls" and "Spiderwick Chronicles" — will depict Hershey's journey from rags to riches, focusing not just on his industrial empire but on his personal life and relationship with his wife, Catherine "Kitty" Hershey. According to CBS News Pittsburgh, Waters shared that "Against all odds, Milton achieved great success, but unlike a lot of other wealthy men of his time, he shared his success with the working people and community around him." Starring Finn Wittrock and Alexandra Daddario, the film aims to capture the couple's commitment to philanthropy and the lasting impact they made on the world.
Prospective extras can anticipate long days, with shoots lasting between 12 and 14 hours, and a guaranteed pay of $225 for a 12-hour day, as reported by WPXI. There will be no filming on weekends, and it’s indicated that chosen participants should have good availability throughout the production dates, which run from May 12 to June 27.
