The Pittsburgh Pirates are in full damage-control mode after a bobblehead giveaway turned into a headache for fans and operational staff alike. To remedy the situation, the Pirates have announced a plan to distribute Paul Skenes bobbleheads to all fans who attended the fateful Saturday game and were left bobble-less once the initial 20,000 units ran out. According to a report by WPXI, the team is taking steps to ensure that all attendees will eventually receive their collectible.
In their latest communication strategy, the Pirates are attempting to make amends by promising virtual vouchers—added directly to fans' MLB Ballpark App accounts—to act as an IOU for the sought-after Skenes bobbleheads. These barcoded tickets were sent to fans who scanned into the game after the bobbleheads had been distributed at the gates. As detailed by CBS News Pittsburgh, the team explained in an email to fans: "To provide some peace of mind while we work through logistical timelines and details, we have added one barcoded Skenes Bobblehead ticket to your MLB Ballpark App account, for every ticket you had that scanned after the bobbleheads were distributed at the gates on Saturday."
For those reliant on old-school paper tickets, reaching out to the Pirates directly via phone or email is the next course of action.
