Community members in Upper Arlington now have two new reasons to visit the Bob Crane Community Center, as it officially received a generous art donation from Pizzuti Solutions. The announcement was made during an Upper Arlington Cultural Arts Commission meeting on Wednesday. Pizzuti Solutions, a subsidiary of The Pizzuti Companies, has deep roots in public projects and worked diligently to construct and artistically enhance the community center with a display of two prominent artworks.
The unveiling event was more than just a showcase. It represented Pizzuti Solutions' commitment to merging public spaces with aesthetic enrichment. They went above and beyond their role as an Owner's Representative to integrate art into the community's everyday life seamlessly. As the established firm manages projects for public benefit, it decided to focus on enhancing the cultural experience of the patrons. According to the City of Upper Arlington government website, visitors will be greeted by "Wild and Flowers" by Sarah Fairchild and "Inside Out" by Odili Donald Odita—both acclaimed Ohio natives with international recognition.
The selection of these works is no mere coincidence. They reflect both the project's vision of community and sustainability and a celebration of diversity and local pride in Upper Arlington's history. Notably, Odili Donald Odita's family story of immigration from Nigeria to Upper Arlington narrates a cross-cultural journey, paving a path of unity amongst the community's inhabitants.
During the art presentation, Joel S. Pizzuti, President and CEO of The Pizzuti Companies, emphasized the significance of public art. "The incorporation of art is a key component in Pizzuti Solutions’ approach as an Owner’s Representative," Pizzuti elucidated in a statement to the public. He continued by expressing enthusiasm for including artists linked to Central Ohio in the community center's development, hoping to cultivate an appreciation for public art for visitors spanning generations.
This act of philanthropy wasn't just a transaction but a graceful dance of collaboration and community. Present alongside Joel Pizzuti were key figures from the city's management and Cultural Arts Commission, including Steve Schoeny, Upper Arlington City Manager, and Commission members Sheryl Pfeil, Barry Baughman, Cheryl Smoot, and Michael Paulus.
