Over the weekend, Plymouth Police successfully apprehended a 57-year-old man on the strength of multiple arrest warrants, including failing to register as a sex offender and enticement of a minor. According to the official Facebook post from Plymouth Police Department, Christopher Chassey was located by Motor Officer Andrew Whelan with help from Officer Kevin Ciavarra near a bicycle path in North Plymouth.

Chassey's capture followed after Whelan received information that Chassey, who had allegedly shifted from Middleborough to Plymouth without the required legal notification to authorities, might be in the area. The Middleborough Police had previously secured an arrest warrant for Chassey's failure to notify them of his new address. Chassey was cooperative with the police, despite an initial attempt to hide his face, and responded to his own name when apprehended, police said.

Upon being brought to Plymouth Police Headquarters, Chassey's booking included a new arrest warrant and three additional default warrants for similar charges, spanning jurisdictions from Plymouth to Middleborough, and even involving the Rhode Island Federal District Court. The charges detailed by the Plymouth Police included multiple counts of failing to register as a sex offender and intimidation of a witness, along with a federal charge of enticing a minor for indecent purposes.

Chassey was held without bail pending further legal proceedings, and the Plymouth Police Department extended their gratitude to the Middleborough Police Department, the United States Probation and Pretrial Services, and the United States Marshals Service for their cooperation. The police department took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of maintaining up-to-date sex offender registry information, and directed citizens to the Sex Offender Registry Board's Public Database for current information on local sex offenders.
