
A woman was shot in Garner yesterday late afternoon, and police are currently on the hunt for the suspect, who remains at large. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Heather Park Drive and Dartmouth Glen Drive, CBS17 reported.
The Garner Police Department first received reports of the shooting taking place in the 100 block of Myatt Fern Drive, but it was later clarified that it happened at the aforementioned location. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to her shoulder and was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, her injuries were not life-threatening, and she is expected to make a full recovery. According to abc11, the police do not believe that there is an ongoing threat to the public and have stated that this was not a random incident.
Little has been disclosed about the suspect, other than he is male and was last seen wearing a blue jacket with the hood up, armed with a handgun. The Garner Police Department, with assistance from the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, are to actively search for the individual responsible for the shooting. A K9 unit was reported to be deployed in the hunt for the suspect.
Evidence was collected at the scene, and investigators have located at least six to seven casings. While the suspect is still at large, the local authorities including the Wake County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. WRAL relayed that Garner police are urging anyone with information to come forward as part of the community effort to apprehend the man responsible.
